Bought one of Play for someone and just found it great fun. Now I don't know how it compares to others as it's the 1st one I've ever tried.
Just waiting for some nicer weather now to try it outside.

Reading this has just reminded me how much I miss my old hobby, radio control flying - I think I'm going to have to take it up again.

is that what you are meaning?
my 6 year old has one,and its fantastic..he gets to play with it in every room bar the living room,as his flying skills arent great.
works fine indoors and outside too,in the garden.
only thing,is that if it gets a bit windy in the garden,it tends to get erratic, but still kept under control.
he has crashed it,into the ground, his sister, the dog,and its still going.

ive got one of these as well..got it for my christmas, from the wife.
its a Picoo-Z helicopter:
http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.asp...727?ref=Search
all i can say is fantastic fun, especially on those late night missions, involving nefarious attacks on the wife reading a book.

you can get Picoo-Z - from Play for about £17.99, bought one for a laugh and they are great fun for short blasts.

I love tormenting the Mrs with it

Re: Anyone got a R/C Helicopter?

I've got two RC heli's. Both electric and both with about a grand invested in them.

Beware getting hooked on these things, they're addictive and expensive - especially if you crash a lot.

Re: Anyone got a R/C Helicopter?

no flown one of them, but the Pico Z's big brother,i have flown(well, played with).
when i got my Pico Z,my mate had to better me,so he bought one of these:
http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.asp...achines/385719
its virtually the same as the one you linked to,10 minutes or so flying time,outdoors,etc..and it went over his house, and flew quite well,on a not so calm day.
i assume it will be very much the same, but available from the high street.

Re: Anyone got a R/C Helicopter?

I have both a Picoo Z and a Gyrotor both by Silverlit but to be honest find them a bit frustrating as they are only 2 channel. i.e. you go up/down or rotate left/right and that's it. Whilst they are great fun and a laugh to fly there's no real feeling of being in control or having the ability to fly from point A to point B.

Anyone ordered from the following website?

http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/

I fancy trading up to a 4 channel chopper, I do like the look of the following two:

Walkera 5#6 for indoors fun.
Feralbeast Apache for scaring the neighbours.

They seem reasonably priced too.

Re: Anyone got a R/C Helicopter?

too many brands, too many helis from china..
some are knock-offs of each other.
with so many similar names, its a hard choice.
i ordered a mighty mosquito from play.com today,for £50,and noticed they have the knock-off of it,for £25,also,due out tomorrow.
i ordered both, just to see how they are,as i believe that they are 3 channel, and judging by reviews, etc, they seem to be great fun.
from picooZ,to micro/mighty mosquito,so hope they come soon.

and as for the picooZ,i put a plastic ended thumb tack,on the end of the nose,so it looks like a gunship cannon, and what a difference.
it flys great brilliantly, with a slow forward movement, but is still able to hover, depending on power and control.
far more controllable..next im going to strip the tail and get rid of the stickers.

Re: Anyone got a R/C Helicopter?

little modifications, like that make it easier to fly,and offer more potential for better trim, and controls, and also make it lighter.
some of the mods,on the net for various helicopters, improve them no end,and in turn allow for longer flight time, better stability, amongst other additions,as some, out of the box, arent exactly set up as well as hoped.
factory conditions, what with thousands being made,at a time,do not allow for individual testing.

so no need for sarcasm.
