Have a little problem, please move this post if its in the wrong place, not sure where to put it. Sorry.

I have a dog who is epileptic and he needs two pills twice a day at 12 hour intervals.

As I work shifts, making these exact times can be tough and I am constantly asking friends and family to give the dog his pills when I am unable.

I have tried the timer devices you can buy that allow you to set a time and then a lid or a flap opens allowing the dog to eat the treat with the pill enclosed.

My dog is very smart and works out within minutes how to open these, seen him use a claw to lift the flap on one device, that was £40 well spent!

I would like to buy or make a simple device that has a timer and somekind of release arm. I could hang it on the wall above dog height put the pill into a treat, set the timer and then I would want it to fall from device at a certain time allowing my dog to eat it.

Any ideas what could be used? Or possibly made?

Might not be an ideal solution but you can get Automatic Fish Feeders that work on a time release, but they are usually designed for flakes/pellets of fish food, maybe you might be able to find one of these that would work for the dog treats

Why don't you use that same device you were using before, at a height above where the dog can reach it. Affix to the device some soft plastic tubing (usually clear, similar material to tubes in fish tanks) to bring the "treat" safely to the ground. Just use a tube slightly larger than the opening on the device, or else create a funnel system for the treat to drop into.
