Audio interference on Skype calls

Hi

I'm hoping some kind soul can please help me on this problem as I am tearing my hair out.

When I make a Skype call on my Dell laptop to my wife on her Dell PC, after a few minutes I get audio interference in my headphones (or speakers) similar to the noise you get when re-tuning the radio. During this, my wife can still hear me fine but the only way to resolve it is to hang up and call again. This happens every few minutes or so.

This also happens when chatting to her on MSN. I've tried it with different headsets (including the internal speakers and Mic) on 4 different Internet connections, wireless and ethernet. I've tried re-installing the software and drivers - to no avail.

I've also done a search on the internet and a few others have this problem too but so far no definitive way of solving it.

If anyone can shed any light on this, I would be so grateful.
