Triax DDU problem terrestrial only from downlink

Hi,

I am trying to install a Triax DDU in my house. I have a terrestrial aerial connected to the UHF1 and 4 port sky dish connect to sat 1-4.

I connect the down link and uplink (IR-SAT2) to my Triax 304115 and all works no problem. I then try and connect either SAT3 or SAT4 to a triplexed (304102) outlet but I get no digital terrestrial and analogue is very poor. I also tried connecting IR-LINK(1-6) to regular outlets (without magic-eye) and same result, bad picture(snow).

I did a bench test (using short lengths of coaxial). I connected aerial to UHF1 and tv straight to downlink, no problem, I then connect to any of the IR-LINK(1-6) or, SAT(2-3) and all I get is a poor picture with snow. Should I expect a picture doing this, should these output be simply pass through of terrestrial signal? If so, could the box faulty and should I return it to the supplier? I realise there is a current running from the IR-LINK and wondered if I have to have a magic-eye for regular tv to work ok.

Any clarify around what I should expect would be very helpful. Maybe I am miss understanding how this works. I would expect to be able to connect my TV to any of these outputs a received a good picture. As far as signal goes I am in a good area with a brand new coax from a roof mounted aerial so I fairly confident this is not the problem as I get a fantastic picture from the downlink output, but non of the others.

Thanks,

Pete.

This is likely sorted by now, but . . .

You have to connect the downlink to the uplink, to pass the signals back to the DDU for distribution through the other outputs. It's designed with Sky boxes (which you seem to have) in mind: TV output of 304115 -> Sky box RF-in, Sky box RF2 -> return of 304115 & uplink of DDU. Sky box RF1 takes terrestrial signal to main tv.

You might have got a reply sooner, if you had posted in the Freeview forum.

Thanks for replying, on a hunch have already done as you suggest and yes digital is now available elsewhere. Not immediately obvious as I would have thought it would be distributed straight from the DDU. All sorted now.
