The only way you can get Sky Sports is via a Sky or Virgin Media subscription.
You can get FreeviewHD on your Tv if it has an HD tuner in it, check it's specs.
Likewise you need to live in an area covered by a transmitter broadcasting the HD channels and have a suitable aerial.

Yes you can SS1 & SS2.... but they are still subscription (pay) channels and therefore not FREEview in the strict meaning of the word free

I don't think he was expecting to get Sky Sports for free - he was simply asking if Sky Sports was available on the freeview platform.

You can get it via top up tv . Be prepared for extortionate monthly cost though !

It isn't any help... because Samsung are utterly useless when it comes to technical support. I've been trawling around for 20 minutes, pointlessly, trying to find a definitive specification from Samsung for this set.

Specification are easy enough to find... but 'DTV tuner' tells me nothing of its technical capability.

Basically - to be able to receive HD freeview channels a TV is required to have an DVB-T2 tuner.
If it has an older DVB-T tuner - it cannot receive HD freeview channels.

If you bought the set more than about 18 months ago, there is no chance it has a DVB-T2 tuner.
If you bought it since - it may have one... but since it would be a major sales boast, and it is not mentioned , I suspect it does not have the capability.

It does have a DVB-T2 tuner - the "D" models are from last year.

There have been reports that Sky are to offer SkyGo to people who do not otherwise subscribe. That of course means you would probably have to have a fast broadband connection, truely unlimited monthly allowances and some form of interconnection between the device you use to access it (computer or maybe games consoles). Since selling sports programming is the way Sky makes money, do not expect this to be much cheaper than subscribing.

I use a company called 123UKTV.com and they offer exactly this service. You should give them a try as I'm really happy with them. It's basically a Sky Go account without the hassle of the sat dish so is cheap and I get loads of sports and movies channels for a fraction of the cost of a Sky subscription
