No sound from Philips DTR220 Coax to DVD Input on Yamaha DSP AX863SE AMP

Hello, I've just bought a new freeview box and I connected it to them amp using a coax cable.

Can anyone please tell me why I am not getting any sound? The coax cable has an arrow pointing away from the freeview box to the amp (makes sense).

Try turning up the volume on the freeview box using the remote control

I presume you are using a rca phono socket marked spdif or digital out on the freeview box.

The freeview box's volume control won't have any effect on volume if using the SPDIF output - in my expirence with varying Freesat and Freeview boxes using SPDIF outputs, the mute fucntion of the box won't work, nor will the volume level - you get full volume even with the box volume on O

As Graham said, you must be using the correct RCA type lead, and not just a "regular" phono lead

I think it is a normal spfid cable, the only thing it says on it is the brand name 'ixos'. It has a black body with standard coaxial ends.

Some do some don't (vary the volume that is). There's nothing special about the coax used for spdif it's just standard 75ohm coax, the frequency used are way lower than UHF rf for instance (not that I am suggesting you use the very thin poor quality ones - they will work though). Humax freeview boxes for instance are fixed output others are not. Until the recent firmware upgrade for instance the foxsat-hdr mpeg audio output from spdif was volume controlled
