Freeview on UK Samsung LCD... in Australia

Hi,
I am really hoping someone will be able to help me.
I purchased a Samsung 40" LCD TV approx 18 months ago in the UK. The product Information is below.
The freeview worked fine in the UK, but we have recently moved to Australia, and taken the TV with us.
Software Version T-BDXPDEU00-1014
Firmware Version T-ST1DEU7-1000

We have friends in Australia that have the same (by all outward appearances anyway) Samsung TV, and their freeview works fine (they purchased theirs in Australia)
Is it that Samsung makes the same hardware for the model, and simply supplies different software within the TV depending on country? And if that is the case, and I able to update the software version in some way to get the freeview to work over here? I've tried the standard reset and also a manual upgrade of the software, but it has no signal to connect to to download any update.
If I can provide any other information that would help, just ask and I'll reply with it immediately.

If anyone has any ideas, I would REALLY appreciate the help.

Many thanks in advance,
Nathan.

Easiest way is to get a local standard freeview box/pvr and connect it via scart to your UK TV.

Hi,
I have already gone out an bought a separate 'set-top box', but it's very clunky to operate, and no where near as good as having it built into the tv to use.
If I'm able to get the freeview in the LCD working, that's what I'd really like to do.
Thanks,
Nathan.

The problems could be simply that the channel bandwidth used in the UK is 8MHz (PAL I standard) where as Australia uses 7MHz bandwidth channels (PAL B standard).

So simply the tuner in your TV receiver is looking at the wrong frequencies and expecting an 8MHz bandwidth for a DVB-T signal.

FYI I have a DVB-T receiver that at day 1 "start up" you have to select your country. If I choose Germany then it searches in both the VHF & UHF bands - which you would expect and finds UK DVB-T (in UHF)

If I select UK and scan it looks only in the UHF band.

If however I switch the country to Australia and scan it finds nothing!

I sugest you need to check the Software\firmwear version in a similar TV sold in Oz.

I hope my post has been of use
