humax antenna power problem....

Hi there, i am new to this forum and am pretty inexperienced with regard to tv/aerials etc, so i hope someone out there can help.

i am fitting an indoor aerial (Amplified Digital Indoor TV Aerial : Indoor TV Aerials : Maplin) to a humax 9150t set top box. i am told this box can power an aerial, but after looking in the humax users manual it tells me that the antenna power is: 5V power supply from the active antenna cable.
+5V/50mA (max.)

however the aerial says that it requires DC 6V.

would this box be able to power this aerial?

another question is my current cable run to the aerial is about 20 meters and made up of 3 different cables joined up at different points. would this stop the power traveling from the set top box to the aerial?

would it be better to have one long 20 meter cable directly connecting to the aerial?

sorry for so many questions, i hope someone can answer them.

many thanks in advance,

The box should work fine with the aerial. If you have decent connections then the dc power should go through the connections but it's always best to minimise joints as you lose some signal at each termination especially if you are using Belling Lee connectors rather than F type.

thanks for that quick response.

so even though the aerial suggest DC 6V, the 5V from the set top box should be ok to power the aerial?

Never mind the 5V or 6V query - it isn't all that important and a one volt difference is of no consequence. The Humax 5V supply is only a nominal figure anyway. Your main concern should be whether you have enough aerial signal to start with at your location.

Check on this website what type of aerial is recommended for freeview reception at your location.
