BBC Freeview Channels/Winter Hill Transmitter

I dont usually use freeview but since I got a new tv yesterday I moved my old one upstairs where I dont have sky and tuned it in. For some reason all the BBC channels have terrible signal quality and are unwatchable, every other channel though is fine, showing a 9 in quality.

Ive got no idea why this is, Ive watched BBC1 on freeview in the past when recordings clashed but never had any problems. Admittedly Ive not tried it since the switchover started. I live in Wigan and use the Winter Hill transmitter, is this something to do with the switchover.

It depends which part of wigan that you live and what model of box your using.

I live 4 miles south of wigan,Can you see the mast from your location and what is five analogue like bacause five is lower powered than the other four analogue channels.

If five is good then you could be suffering from overloading since the BBC channels went high power on the 04/11/09 and the rest of the muxes go high power on 02/12/09 when winterhill completes DSO and the analogue switches off.

The overloading problem may disappear when the analogue is switched off.
