my father has just bought a sanyo digital lcd.when you record a digital channel from the tv to a dvd recorder the quality is poor worse than when you watch the digital channel on the tv.the digital picture on the tv is fine but when you even watch the picture on scart 1 being sent to the recorder the picture is not as good.is this because the scart socket on the tv only outputs cvbs and not rgb.

Not only that, but internally the signal from the tuner to the display may well be better than RGB; RGB is analogue and to convert from digital to analogue and back to digital (which is required for most LCD enhancement eg. 100Hz etc) would introduce two unnecessary processing steps.
