Question Suitability of tele?

Quick question... Will any tele with a scart socket pick up freeview? I have a couple of SEG 's a few years old but both with 2 scart sockets in back. Dont want to waste money on a freeview box if it wont work

No - unless the TV has a Freeview tuner inside, you need a Freeview box.(What's an SEG?)

Hi,

Sorry, SEG is the make of the teles. Brilliant pictures on them at present but might not be any good after the changeover in March. How can I find out if they have the necessary tuner ?? The model no. is CT2103-S

Thanks for the reply

Can't find a spec for SEG TVs - are they German? But, without wishing to be rude, surely you know whether there's any provision on the TV's menus or on the remote control for operating it in digital as well as analogue mode. For example, is there a button on the remote with something like AT/DT on it? Or, better still, do you have the users manual you might refer to?

I thought you already had Freeview in South Wales (though analogue has not yet been switched off), so if the TVs do have a Freeview tuner, then you should be able to test your reception right now, without waiting for March.

All that said, I would think that if the TVs are 5 or more years old, then they are analogue only; & you will need a Freeview box, once analogue is switched off.

I know they dont have freeview tuners inside.
Just wanted to know if they will work with a freeview box. They both have scart sockets. So I presume they will work

Sorry, I misunderstood your second post. Yes, so long as they have a Scart input, they should work when connected to a Freeview box.

Yes the TV's are probably German (bought from LIDL ). I know we can get freeview in Wales at present. I dont need it at the moment because with my sky hd box on the main TV we can get all the channels on every set in the house via sky. It's just if someone is watching sky we can also view anologue (or is it terrestrial) channels on these other tv's. (saves arguments)

The question I wanted answering was whether these tv's would work with a freeview box. I think you've answered that now. Thanks
