Freeview and Freesat problems :((

I used to be a aerial and tv engineer myself so I am technically trained myself, and I have had my digital aerial installed by highly reputable sky and digital engineers here in Rotherham.

The aerial is a roof aerial strapped to the chimney of a two bedroomed terraced house (post code=S63 8LZ) - and about 25-30ft up due to my house being a old house. It is receiving and in line with emley moor.

Let me say I have been in the house 7 years and previously only had a few problems with channel five but perfect with all other channels until the last 2 years or so.

Due to the aerial receiving very poor analogue since they started working on emley moor and the switch over.

The analogue system is virtually non existent, I receive BBC1 through to Channel 5 but the picture is very snowy!

LIne of sight from the roof mounted aerial is free and no obstructions what so ever.

I have a toshiba 42 regza lcd tv and since they downgraded the transmitter frequency on mux2 and others I have probably only received BBC channels for about 9 months now.

It was at that stage i installed HD freesat myself, after being a qualified satellite installer myself. As I was disatisfied with freeview reception.Freesat been perfect for the last 9 months or so.

NOw freesat was ok up to last week and now since the bad weather last week I have no signal on freesat at all, this dish is free of obstructions also.

Now with freesat being off / down, I decided to see what I could do with the freeview.

It appears now I can only receive BBC Channels only with the aid of a signal booster and no other channels or radio stations what so ever.

I also have friends in the surrounding area who had no reception yesterday, but my freeview is terrible to non existent.

Only being received with BBC!

I have disconnected and changed cables where I can but being on a limited budget right now due to being unemployment is not helping.

needing help?

thanks graham

graham,
your a star... think you hit the nail on the head......

i did wonder if it could be lnb or water in the downlead, so going to check both once the bad winds have subsided....

i have had problems with youths pulling the downlead since the pavement runs straight by my front door, and where the downlead enters the property.

hoping its just water... since thats a easy swap....

saying that the lnb is easy to check too.. willl let you know
