Sony Bravia - loose wires?

Hi, I have a Sony Bravia - bought April 2008. I have never been able to receive Freeview on it and I put this down to a weak signal.
At the weekend, my friend started wiggling two scart leads and the TV now magically picks up digital BBC channels.
It seems like there are loose wires in the TV. Has anyone else had this? Is it fixable?
Is a solution, to buy a freeview box?
Help and advice would be great!

Re: Sony Bravia - loose wires?

It could be the TV scart socket which has a bad connection but its far more likely to be a bad scart lead (or connection socket on the scart lead).

Try a new fully wired scart lead. All 21 pins connected.

Also - my Sony Bravia TV has separate aerial connections for analogue and digital.

Assuming yours is the same do you have a small co-axial female to male flylead connection between analogue & digital output and input?

You need the above connection in order for the digital tuner to pick up the freeview transmissions.

Re: Sony Bravia - loose wires?

I cannot see how this can be anything to do with the scart leads.

It can only be that the Aerial flyleads were being disturbed at the same time.

There must also be a misapprehension here: It would not be possible to start receiving freeview spontaneously on the TV, without once having done so previously ... otherwise the channels would not be tuned in.

Agree with you both. Of course it has nothing to do with the scart leads. Must have had a senior moment (which my relatives tell me are quite frequent lately).

Probably a bad connection on the digital aerial connection. It also requires the DIGITAL button to be pressed on the remote.
