Steering a Dish.

To move a dish to other satellites, what is the simplest move ?

A rotator to move it in horizontal plane or is up and down essential.

Where is the best place to the equipment ?

Re: Steering a Dish.

A motorised dish follows the arc of satellites in the Sky so moves both horizontally and vertically. This is achieved by a motors mounting pole being at the correct angle and correct initial alignment.

As for equipment it depends on what you want to watch. Be aware that there is very little free programming in English on other satellites than the one that both freesat and Sky use.

I've had this system running for about 2 or 3 days and a complete novice.

I tried to find BBC4 on Astra and failed so it must be:-

a) My receiver dish settings or

b) The wrong satellite.

Astronomy is my hobby so I'm acutely aware that Satellites stay put but stars don't with reference to time ! *lol*

My difficulty is the jargon not the mechanics. But fresh into it I don't know what the solutions are !

The achievement I've locked into Astra 28.2 E is down to the patience of this Forum members !

This site shows which channels are on which satellites. BBC4 is on Astra 2D like most of the others on freesat.

Also note that BBC4 only transmits between 7pm and 3am.
