Damn! I was afraid someone would say that....

It was workign fine... Changed over to the PC input on the telly to setup a movie playback.. Swapped back and no signal!!!! DOH!

Done a factory reset and it just says it can't detect a satellite signal....

Ho hum.... Wonder where to start now....

Thanks for replying mate!

Re: Has Freesat suddently died?

We lost both feeds at the same time... So I doubt it's a simpel connection issue... I've tried my old sky+ box on it... (It's not "active" anymore, but I'd hope it would at least give a signal strength indication).

Well I get nowt.... The birds that nest ont eh back of the dish (mountign arm) have vanished... i suspect they've had a domestic and knocked the dish.... I can but hope... Both feeds appear to be attached at the LMB end, but I don't have a long ladder to get up there... So The Sky/Aerial man is on his way!

!#@$*&

Re: Has Freesat suddently died?

Probably a pure coincidence but I've been having problems since Teusday evening. Signal strenght is 85% but Quality strenght is at best 50% but mostly 0%,result is that I'm only getting BBC HD with artefacts and no other BBC channels.

I've checked the cable connections at both the Humax and the LNB on the dish and whilst all of them were a bit loose, tightening them up has made no difference.

I have a Panasonic freesat TV too so I might connect one of the cables to that to see if there is a decent picture with TV but the sat man is coming in the morning.

Funny thing is that during the day there are very few channels available but in the evening, particularly late on,there are more with some of them viewable.

Only thing I can think of is that the line of sight from the dish to the satelite has large trees either side with only a very small channel for the dish to 'see' the satelite but in the last few days the trees have developed their leaves with more and more each day to the point they are now almost full.

Don't know why there would be a difference at night from during the day though.

Everything was fine up to Teusday evening.

If the trees are indeed the problem then does anyone know if a larger dish would help?

Think the current dish is a 60CM or perhaps even a 80 cm but no bigger than that.

The sat system was installed in Feb when the trees were bare.

I'm in Glasgow BTW, in the south east of the city.

Thanks for any replies.

Tony.

Re: Has Freesat suddently died?

Hi Tony,

Scotland may be beautiful but I'm in glasgow too and due to the lovely massive 100 feet pine trees in the way of the sat signal, I had to have my dish installed on the apex of my roof and also on a 6 ' pole!!

There was a guy on digital spy forums who can only watch his sat for 6 months of the year as the leaves on his trees block the signal the whole Summer! So I guess you need to wait until you are positive that the trees have all their leaves and have your dish adjusted then. Good luck
