Unplug the sat cable from your Sky box and plug into the Tv and you have Freesat.

OK what if I want both at the same time, will I need a separate cable running from the sky dish i.e. one to the sky box and one to the TV for freesat to work alongside sky? or am I complicating things.

Yes that is correct ,you need to run a separate cable from the dish.

Last question... does the sky dish have two outputs?

It depends on if you already of sky+ or not. If you do have sky+ your likely to have a quad LNB (4 outputs, 2 used by the sky+, 2 spare). If you only have normal sky, it will likely be a single LNB (so no spare outputs).

If you do upgrade to skyHD, and haven't currently got a quad LNB, they will fit one as part of the installation.
