metronic hd sat 100 owners thread

website Metronic - 441827 : Satellite HD Digital Box : SAT HD 100

loosing sound on changing channel issue Metronic audio not being seen by Yamaha 761
semi fixed with update (not tested optical yet ) zdx620_freesat_v079.zim
email metronic for update info @ metronic
Metronic

review Metronic Sat HD 100 review from TechRadar UK's expert reviews of Digital TV recorders

dinky box (smaller than the humax)
nice crisp hd image
quite sharp sd image (as good as the old sky box we used to have)

have not noticed any lip sync issues
my remote seems to have a mind of its own ( maybe its just new and a bit sticky) down down down up no its going down some more.........

easy to setup and update (via usb) although the usb is very close to the hdmi cable so if you have a fat usb stick you will need to use scart while doing the update

Re: metronic hd sat 100 owners thread

Got one of these for a ton a few weeks ago, and it's exactly what I want from a Freesat box. HD does look lovely, although the colour saturation is a little more plasticy than I'm entirely comfortable with.

The audio dropout over HDMI is a right pain in the arse, but I'd like to think that I played a small part in making them aware of it as I emailed them over a month ago, and in their reply it seemed as if they had no idea about this issue.

They quizzed me a bit more about when it happens, and said that they'd forwarded my email to the audio engineers. That was the last I'd heard of it - until now. I'll reply to their reply and see if I can get this firmware update also.

Thanks for the updates, grizzly.

Re: metronic hd sat 100 owners thread

shout out if you dont get a response and ill mail you the update.
(would upload it but as its not on there site yet im gessing it isnt finalised yet)

lnb pass through works (just not as i was hoping it would, as i used to just run an ariel splitter)
if the metronic box is turned of then the signal is passed through to our old sky box enabeling full channel selection

little bug
the epg goes back beyond the current time (so used to sky having the hardstop at the current time)
but the highlighted program info at the top of the channel list is a nice touch

Re: metronic hd sat 100 owners thread

They've emailed me the update, and it works. How nice it is to keep something as simple as the audio when you change channel! (As someone said in the other thread, the audio still drops out if you fiddle with the picture settings, but that's something I adjust very rarely.)

Kudos to Metronic for sorting it out.

I have a couple of problems/questions about this box which we got for my uncle for christmas.

1) Is it possible to set up a timer event which goes past midnight as everytime we tried it came up with an incorrect time error?

2) Has anyone else had any problems with not getting the correct local station for ITV & BBC. ITV the correct region is not listed at all and BBC is there but is on channel 953 with channel 101 being the London region.

There's a firmware upgrade available on Metronic's website:
Metronic - 441827 : Satellite HD Digital Box : SAT HD 100
I'm not sure what its for, there's no information with it, maybe its for BBC iplayer. Any ideas? I've upgraded, but not noticed any difference, my ethernet doesn't connect.

Some of the ITV subregions are not available on Freesat because they are encrypted and not on Astra 2D. Surprised though you don't get all BBC regions listed with channel numbers 950-971

I jus replied to ur post on DS! I've got a Metronic and I've got it on 119 without a retune.

btw, at least a month before iplayer firmware will be ready for the HD100.

I finally got round to sorting out my uncle's issue. I updated the firmware which then did a retune and now has the correct BBC 1 and ITV as channels 101 and 103.

Still can't set it for a program over midnight though which is strange.

I have the same issue with my box. No channel 119 on the channel list.

I have just changed my postcode to a London postcode and ITV HD is now listed in the channel list.
Switch back to ITV South East and it's gone?

No ITV HD Channel Help!!

Hi, Just purchased and setup my Metronic SAT HD 100. Installed latest update from Metronic(zdx620_freesat_v083.zim), entered my Devon postcode and scanned for services. However, no ITV HD. I read the post re changing postcode to London etc. Is this the only available fix?

Works fine with my 'M15' postcode. If you pm me with your postcode, I'll try it on my box and report back.

I get the same as you, using your postcode, no channel 119. Reverting to my own postcode, it works.
Try emailing Metronic, 'info@metronic.com', they're pretty quick responding to customers.
btw, I had an email from them this week, to tell me that iPlayer commences on Monday!
In the meantime, you could go into non-freesat mode, and get all BBC/ITV regions. Its fiddley, but you can select all the channels you want and put them in one of the favourites lists, that way you get all non-freesat FTA channels, such as Sky News, LuxeHD, Movies24 etc.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. I will email Metronic and see what they have to say. For the meantime I have set a London postcode and changed the BBC London channel (101) to BBC South West, In the channel editior.

I've just been bought one of these, so I can watch the Rugby when its on S4C, as Virgin doesn't carry it. But as expected using my own West London postcode it doesn't come up. I have tried using my families postcodes (Cardiff area) and the picture is very weak with constant drop outs and thick green stripes.

Any idea how I can get manually tune it in with a stronger signal?
(I have no idea what the transponder, NIT scans are. Or what transponder I should choose)(Also my sat kit is old, it's looks like an old Sky satellite with a single LNB)

Just noticed using a Glouc postcode, S4C2 is available and looks fine.

EDIT: Seems Satellite is misaligned slightly, I've also worked out what the transponders are too. I'll phone them tomorrow hopefully adding some weight to the urgency of the fix.

Not sure if anyone can answer something on this box.

The past couple days I've come home and switched on the box only for it to say No Channels. After a retune all channels return!

Normally the box says 0/38 scanning, but yesterday it said 0/39, and today its 0/40.

Are they added extra channels?? Or is the box playing up? I've just had a new remote from Metronic as the remote kept missing presses, and sending the previous button presses.

I originally thought the LNB was playing up as I couldn't get it to even re-tune, but I had a new one in December.

Cheers all.

I've not had the trouble with losing channels but I think everyone who has one of these boxes will know the remote trouble, I think they ALL misbehave at times. Mine is usually fine though and I can live with the odd misunderstood remote command.

I don't think this is an LNB problem as even if you disconnect the dish the box should remember its channel list.
