Freesat migration & install - how much?

Hi All
Currently I have Freview with a Topfield PVR. The house is wired with multiple runs of cat5 and coax to each room - the plan is to have each room with a freesat or Freeview box and a FM / DAB receiver

My question is how much should it cost to install a dish with quad LNB (I have one from satcure), attach to a Multiswitch (for the distribution into multiple rooms) and terminate the cables in each of the rooms (5 in total).

I assume that I will need separate distribution multiswitches for the freeview/DAB/FM and freesat circuits..

Basically all I want to do is plug in a box and it works!!!!
Many thanks
Oscarp

In the sat side most multiswitches need a quatro lnb not a quad. You might find some that work with a quad if you have a good luck round.

A multiswitch will diplex the satellite/terrestrial signals together & distribute them to each point using a single cable. An appropriate decombining wallplate is then used at each location to seperate the two signals back out (If you want to connect more than one aerial, then something like this can be used before the multiswitch)

Re: Freesat migration & install - how much?

If you do not want satellite PVRs in every room (which require 2 feeds) then a far cheaper and simpler method would be to use an octo (8 output) lnb this would still allow 3 rooms to have satellite PVRs and two with basic single tuner satellite receivers. One bad side effect of using multiswitches is the inherent signal loss associated with them which necessitates using a dish one size larger than would be normally used (i.e in the South of the UK a 60 cm instead of a 43 cm minidish and in the North an 80 cm dish instead of the usual 60 cm). Octo lnbs are fairly cheaply available on ebay for around £25 and will fit both sizes of Sky dishes (43cm and 60cm).

Taking the cables into the loft you could still diplex the satellite signals with the Freeview/DAB signals down one cable to each room.
