Humax FoxSat-HD busted already...

I've had my Humax FoxSat HD box for just over a week and it's stopped working

It froze on ITV last night, wouldn't respond to any remote input or buttons on the box, only option was to leave it for ages, then eventually pull the plug

Since then, it won't come on. If I replace the power, it boots and shows the Humax splash screen (with U7.22 in the bottom corner) and the LED circles around like it usually does booting up, but it freezes like this for ever (4 hours at the mo)

Any ideas on whats wrong or how I might take a look into fixing it? I've emailed Humax but got no reply yet.
I read in the manual about updating the software via a USB stick but I can't seem to find any software on the net, and any reference to it on the Humax site just says its OTA (over the air i guess)

Any help?

Bit gutted I can't watch the footy in HD tonight now

Long shot. Try disconnecting the sat feed and try booting again. If you can get to the menus try a factory reset before switching off and replacing the dish coax.

Re: Humax FoxSat-HD busted already...

tried it, and tried it again

rebooted with sat feed, without sat feed. with hdmi cable, without. with scart cable, without

checked LNB end of cable. all ok

buggered

daft thing is I can't find any other instances of this problem on the net I always rely on finding other people with the problem as it usually gets solved then.

Re: Humax FoxSat-HD busted already...

Thats what i had to do to get my 2nd box up and running.Done a factory reset then when it restarted it went wrong again & again & again & again & again then went into a constant boot cycle.Had box number 3 for 24hrs and it hasnt gone wrong so far.But im giving it about a week as thats how long they seem to last from my experience.Run it with the lid off just in case it could be heat, constant 30c on the hdd caddy at present.
Humax must know there is problems with the HDR as they must be getting shed loads back. But easier to keep your head in the sand. But it must be hurting the profits as well as there reputation as surely the chain stores will be asking why they are getting so many returns.

Re: Humax FoxSat-HD busted already...

its just the foxsat-hd box, not the hdr pvr version so it's not got an HDD

Did remove the cover just to have a nosey and there's not much going on inside tbh.

On the heat tho, it was rather hot around the lnb bit last time it had been on for a while but i didn't worry about it.

Strange that it gets to the splash screen and hangs but the lcd keeps spinning, almost like the software is corrupted, would like to beable to replace it from a usb just to try it, thought humax boxes were meant to be easy to fiddle with

Re: Humax FoxSat-HD busted already...

you say about the software thats what i thought was wrong with box number 2 it would have been good if i could have got the software from the humax website to reflash it because at that stage i had nothing left to lose & if it had worked then i would have been happy.Maybe it would have been one less return for humax.

Return as faulty

this problem has cropped up before - I had precisely this problem earlier this year. Return it to your retailer for immediate exchange or contact Humax who will do an under warranty exchange.

I have bought four of the HDR Foxsats for various family members and not one, so far in 2 years has had to be returned. (Never been that lucky with any laptop)

DO not return to humax if possible. I returned a box and got a faulty one back they will only send out refurbished boxes and not always fixed if possible return to retailer
