Setup issues / problems

Have a few set up problems that I can find no solutions for and which are driving me nuts.

1. Going along with various recommendations about picture quality in both SD and HD, and having looked at the various outputs I’ve got both HDMI and SCART connections set up and I seem to have to alternate between the two by using the remote source button. However when using the HDMI connection pressing any button (including volume) on the remote defaults me back to the SCART connection. Removing the SCART connection completely allows everything I press on the remote to work fine. Is there any logic / explanation / fix for this?

2.Also having done a manual tune and going back into Menu / Settings the STB mode choice is often greyed out. Other times it is available. Again cannot understand why this should be.

3. Finally!! Having done a manual tune there are many duplicates – 5001/2/3/4/5/6 are all shown as Channel 4. Is this to be expected and do you just have to go through the list deleting all the duplicates and the channels you don’t want?

TV if it helps is a SONY Bravia KDL32V2500

Any assistance, particularly with 1 and 2 would be much appreciated.

1 very strange it appears that for some reason the stb is outputting on pin 8 on the scart which autoswitches the TV. If you can get a scart lead with a plug you can open you can disable auto switching by cutting the pin 8 wire.

2 Was the stb recording or about to record when you tried to change mode. If so you can't swap modes.

3 Afraid so. Alternatively you can delete the lot and manually scan only the transponders having the channels you want.

Re: Setup issues / problems

Thank you Graham. You are correct with 2 just tried it!

With 1, and I know it’s very crude, but as I have a number of spare SCART leads could I just break off (sacrilege to an electronics expert maybe!!) pin 8 to check it that works? Would I have to do this on both ends of the cable? Is Pin 8 the one shown at Electronics 2000 | Pin-outs | SCART Connectors ?

Is there a transponder / channel list published anywhere?

You only need to cut one end. As you look at the plug from the uncabled end with the widest part at the top (sticky out bit to the right) pon 8 is 4th from the left on the top row.

Astra fta channels

Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D (28,2°E) - frequencies - KingOfSat

Eurobird1 fta channels

EuroBird 1 (28.5°E) - frequencies - KingOfSat
