Freesat - Setanta Question

Hi All

I have a Humax HD box,non recording type, and I subscribe to Setanta via Freeview.
Their website say's I can get Setanta via Satellite, but it dosen't say how or which one.
Is it possible to get Setanta via my Freesat Dish,I note they are advertising HD events which I would like to get.

Thanks

Alan

Re: Freesat - Setanta Question

Setanta's UK and ROI satellite service is based around SKY hardware however if you can emulate SKY Videoguard using a genuine smartcard you can watch Setanta on a Freesat box with CI slot, it's not ideal and certainly not future proofed.

Setanta do not broadcast HD to the UK or ROI.

Thanks Starburst

Not the answer I wanted but I wonder why they don't have HD in the UK?

Would there be a case for it in the future?

There's no CI slot on a HD only on a hdr so there's no chance.

It costs a lot more to produce and buy content in HD, it costs more to playout/encode and requires far more bandwidth and I don't think the market for more expensive Setanta is there both on Dsat, Dcable or DTT.

Given the state of Setanta's business we may only see a second HD sports providor if ESPN buy them out.
