Lux HD, non protected BBC HD and about 700 channels mostly rubbish but there might be the odd one to interest you.

This means that you can copy an HDTV recording (from BBC HD or any other HD channel) to another device like an external HDD or a USB stick etc. Otherwise, if you record in Freesat mode, your recording has the ENC icon, meaning that the recording is encoded and cannot be copied.
To activate this, first switch to non-freesat mode and using your remote, turn off your Humax then turn it on again. You are now able to record HD programs without copy restrictions.

I knew that, done it many times but how you got this from post 4 is still beyond me !

If your dish is on Astra then any other HD channel means Lux HD or BBC HD only as these are the only HD channels in non freesat mode, I can't imagine many would want to record Lux HD. In fact you can copy a ENC HD recording if the foxsat HDD is installed in an external esata caddy. You can't of course play the archive until you copy it back the Foxsat HDD.

In any case if the external usb device is formatted standard Fat32 the file size limit of 4Gb will mean you can't archive a BBC HD recording of longer than approx 30mins.

True, there are hundreds of duff channels on non freesat mode, but there are a couple of pretty good ones too. I quite like NME tv, and (cough) Sky news..
