I still have not managed to purchase one of the new Humax HD PVRs though I understand it is highly rated.

Reading around the subject, I am curioius to understand how this PVR works for ITV HD.

On the older Humax receivers it is necessary to press a button to switch from tranditional ITV broadcasts to HD ones.

How does this work for programmed recordings on the PVR ? Surely one does not have to sit there to press the magic button when the ITV broadcast that one wants is about to start as this would defeat the objective of the progamme mode.

On the other hand if Humaw have automated this swithching to ITV HD for the PVR why are stone age methods still in force for switching to ITV HD on the normal receivers.

Could someone please enlighten me ?

If a hd version is available it makes you aware of it when selecting the program to record.

In tc guide press ok over the program you want to watch and it if hd is an option it gives it. This is also where, if a series, it gives the option to record all the series.

You can just press the record button over an item (the one touch record) but these extra options are not offered then.

Q. How do I reserve an ITV HD programme to record?
A. When browsing the EPG on the ITV1 channel entry, if the programme has a schedule HD showing, there will be the HD icon when the highlight is over that programme. At this point, pressing OK to schedule a timer to record this programme, will pop up a dialogue giving you the choice of recording the programme in HD or SD.

Q. How do I record ITV HD?
A. When there is an ITV HD programme showing live, there will be a Red button option to switch to watching from the ITV1 channels to ITV HD. Once switched over to the HD channel, pressing the record button on the remote will record that programme in HD.
