ITV HD on now?

Hi guys,

According to the freesat website, Nanny McFee is supposed to be on on ITV HD now but I get no response from the red button. Anyone else have this problem or is it just not showing?

Re: ITV HD on now?

Press the i button. This will confirm broadcast standard, which in this case is 576i - not HD

There is no HD data stream for this programme another ITV cock up. It's not flagged as HD on the Foxsat epg either.

Re: ITV HD on now?

ITV is a joke. They might as well not have any HD content at all as it is so few and far between. I was looking forward to watching this in HD.

Thank's guys. I had to watch this with my Daughter but actually ended up enjoying it aswell anyway. Would have been a lot better in HD though.

Absolutely. Going by the Freesat web site, that means the grand total of HD programmes on ITV HD over the whole week is two hours.

I know times are hard, but ITV executives should be ashamed of providing such a pathetic non-service.

Re: ITV HD on now?

Don't use the Freesat guide as an indication of what's on, they regularly miss programmes in HD and never removed programmes that ITV withdraw. Nanny McPhee was removed days ago.

Re: ITV HD on now?

They (ITV) also failed to transmit the 'Start Up' signal until 10 minutes after the film had started! I know because I wondered why my Hummy hadn't started recording, and had to do a manual record. Then, at 17:05 I got a 'Recording Conflict' error message as the Hummy tried to respond to the late signal.

Fortunately, it wasn't too hard to pick up the story, though.

Re: ITV HD on now?

Would have thought Dancing on Ice one their biggest programs would have been shown in HD.If they cant be bothered i dont think i will either seems pointless even checking to see what will be shown on ITV HD.

Re: ITV HD on now?

I don't see why they don't show more (or any) films in HD. Surly they are already in that format. How does it cost them more to show them in HD?

As an aside, but for me one of the best looking SD picture is channel 5, far better then ITV. Any body else find this? Watching Men in Black 2 now and it is as good as SD gets at a good viewing distance.

Re: ITV HD on now?

Not to mention that they DID show Wild at Heart in HD despite no TV listings mags saying this and ITV promoting it three times during Sunday, including during Dancing on Ice, without the ITV HD logo showing (as it did in the same ad break when promoting Monday's Unforgiven).

I know it was on the Freesat EPG but how many viewers judge what to watch and if it is HD from TV listings magazines and watching on screen ads rather than looking at the EPG.

According to cast interviews this series was filmed in Africa in Summer 2008 so they have known for months that it was filmed in HD.

I do not understand why they only announced this was in HD last week long after all the TV listings mags went to press and could not even be bothered to add the HD logo to their own frequently screened ads. This is also one of their flagship programmes and that they seemingly were so little bothered to let their viewers know it was going out in HD says a lot about what the channel thinks about ITV HD.

Re: ITV HD on now?

I find the ITV HD dog (I think that's what they are called) annoying. It is too bright. At least the BBC is more subtle.

Re: ITV HD on now?

I e-mailed ITV (viewerservices@itv.com) three or fours weeks ago.

I said I was: "very disappointed by the severe lack of HD material". I went on to ask: "When is this likely to change?"

This was their reply (1 hour 11 minutes later - pretty fast!):

Quote:
Thank you for your email.

FREESAT is a free HD service - not an HD channel - accessed via the red button when watching ITV1. There will be more programmes added as we go through 2009 the system is still in its infancy and at the moment does concentrate on Sport and Feature Films.

Hope that helps.

Re: ITV HD on now?

Most of the time ITV HD doesnt work for me, it gives large black screen periods in any program I look at. I've totally given up trying it now, total waste of space.
