Freesat (through Sky Box) with Sky+ on same dish?

Hi Guys,

I've searched google and your site for this answer but Ive not had any success, so hopefully you can help....
I've currently got Sky+ down stairs, I've purchased a 4 port LNB which I'm ready to fit. I want Freesat By Sky in my bedroom and I have a spare Sky Digital Box (a Pace box) from a previous house I was in.
Is it possible to use both Sky+ and Freesat by sky (through my old sky digital box) via the one sky dish using the 4 port LNB?

I'm assuming not as I saw a post earlier which mentioned that the Sky box actuall contols the LNB, so if you've got two boxes trying to contol it, it's not possible?

Any help would be great.

Cheers,

Robbie.

Yes, you just take separate feeds to each box.
Each output from the LNB is independant.

Correct. This one causes a lot of confusion a quad lnb is actually 4 lnb's that share a common feed horn (the white bit at the front that collects the microwave energy from the dish). Similarly an octal is 8 seperate lnb's with one feed horn.

If you already have Sky+ connected to a Sky minidish it is very likely you already have a quad output lnb with two unused outputs. In which case all you need to do is run another cable from the lnb to your bedroom.
