Unhappy Humax HDR locking up

Hi,

Is anyone else having problems with their HDR locking up?

I was lucky enough to get a HUMAX HDR before christmas and all seemed to work well. But whenever I set a timer recording and switch the box to standby (red light) I come back the next day or whenever to find the box in a locked up/frozen state with the blue light on, and completely unresponsive to the remote or the standby button on the front. I have to switch it off at the mains and wait ten seconds or so before restarting. Plus it hasn't recorded the programme I set it for.

It's a real problem because all the series recording functionality doesn't work and keeps locking the HDR up.

I've got the latest firmware, and have done a factory reset - but the problem remains. Is anyone else having this problem or have any idea what it might be?

I'm using two cables from a quad lnb if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
PR

You seem to have done everything to fix this so sadly I am afraid you need a replacement. What a bummer

Re: Humax HDR locking up

Mine has just locked up.

Remote does seem to change the display on the HDR, but nothing happens on the TV screen.

HDR is connected to an AVR-2309, and from that on into my PZ80 (HDMI1).

It was working fine till last night. Our babysitters may have done something with the remote to cause this lock-up, but nothing I do with the remote nor the buttons on the HDR seem to do much, except change the display from the channel name to GUIDE when I press the GUIDE button on the remote.

I've turned off the machine with the power switch on the back and waited 10 seconds before powering back up, but this doesn't seem to unlock it.

In the attached pic I've circled the clock symbol on my HDR's display - is this part of my problem?

How do I do the factory reset that I've seen mentioned? Would that fix the problem?

Thanks for any replies,

Mark

A reset might well fix it but you really need to see the display to do it. Try a temporary scart connection. The reset is Menu/Setup/Factory Reset

Re: Humax HDR locking up

Sorted - HDMI cable had come out of the back of the HDR.

I just thought I'd check in case the babysitter (father in law) had decided to do some troubleshooting himself and pulled things wrong.

I'll never ask him, but I suspect that's what happened, though why he would have pulled the HDR out I can't imagine.

Thanks anyway Graham,

Mark
