FOXSAT - HDR LNB question

I am want to buy one of these boxed in the next week or two assuming that I can get my hands on one!!

Currently I only have a single LNB which I know I will need to change to a two and route an additional cable to where the box will reside.

The question I have is until I get around to doing can I still use the HDR with a single LNB. Does it just mean that I will not be able to record anthing, but I will still be able to watch programs using the box?

Thanks in advance.

Simon

Re: FOXSAT - HDR LNB question

Yes you will still be able to use the Foxsat HDR and will be able to record/watch but only one channel at a time.

There is an LNB1 output on the unit that can be fed back into LNB2. This enables you to record two channels at a time but you will be limited on which channels you can view/record due to the single LNB.

You need a short length of coax cable with a f plug on each end. Connect your single feed to rf1 in. Connect your short cable from rf1 out to rf2 in.

This feeds both tuners, satellite works by splitting all the channels into four bands with the tuner controlling which band. Like this tuner 1 controls the band so tuner 2 can use any channels in the same band. This means that you can always record 1 channel but frequently can record 2. You can always replay a recorded programme at any time even with both tuners being used to record.

list of which channels are in which band here

Remember when you fit a 2nd cable you will need to do a factory reset to recognise the second cable

Thanks for your help.

Just so that I am absolutely clear. With a single LNB I will be able to watch one and record another channel, but won't be to watch a channel and two channels simultaneously. Although if I take the LNB 1 feed out and feed it into LNB 2 (persumably to do this I need another short piece of co-axial cable(?) with the relevant connector), I will be able to record two channels and watch another channels. How do I know which channels I will be able to record at the same time. To be hones I mainly watch BBC1 2 3 ITV1 and Channel (90%) of the time. Would I be able to record two of these channels at the same time?

THanks
Simon

Thanks Graham I think you have answered my question regarding what channel s I can record at the same time. Most importantly BBC1 East ITV1 and Channel4 +1 and BBC HD are all on the same band.

One final question regarding the addtional coaxial cable, can I but short bit of cable with F plugs attached, or will have to buy the cable and plugs myself seperatly and attach them together?

Cheers

You can watch any channel on the same transponder as either tuner is recording. (transponders frequencies listed on the list I posted before).

Get a length of sat grade coax and a couple of f plugs they are dead easy to fit see here

Ummm, not sure that looks dead simple! Must admit that I am not too good with things like that.

They really are easy to fit all you need is a knife to strip the insulation and a pair of cutters to cut the centre conductor to fit.
