Upgrade Freeview TV to Freesat

Hi everyone, first time user of this blog but need some advice.
I bought a Panny TH-42PX70CAB about this time last year only cos it had in-built Freeview. Recently been seeing many ads for Panny's with in-built FreeSat. Does anyone know if there's an upgrade available for my model that gives built-in FreeSat????

Cheers

I doubt it. But in any case you could always get a separate Sat box - perhaps even a PVR to let you record programmes.

Re: Upgrade Freeview TV to Freesat

If you are interested in HD, then get a Freesat HD box and so the best channel will be BBC HD! (and occassionally ITV HD!)

See http://www.freesat.co.uk/index.php?page=whatson.Main for a list of channels!

Re: Upgrade Freeview TV to Freesat

I have a Foxsat HDR
And you can also get all the "free to air" non-freesat channels including sky news. Most of them are a bit parc
So in addition to the Fresat channels you can get FTA (not FTV)

Re: Upgrade Freeview TV to Freesat

I have built in freeview to my Samsung, and bought a FOXSAT HD box just for the HD content really.

I find that I always end up watching freeview, unless there is specifically something on in HD (e.g. Heroes or the footie etc) because my Humax freeview PVR gives better picture quality than the SD signal received by the freeview box.

So I guess if you think £130 is good for HD content (that will be ramped up in coming months/years of course) then it's worth getting the HD freesat box.

Exactly my experience I always watch and record SD using my Toppy5800 or Humax9200. (If I want to archive always use the Toppy as the usb transfers are quicker and 100% reliable, the Hummy is a bit flakey). The Foxsat-HDR is only used for HD watching and recording to a 1Tb (or the original 320Gb drive) in an external esata case. fF you have a decent freeview signal and don't want or can't use HD (No HD ready TV) then there's little point getting Freesat
