Triax SR 322 EPG PROBLEMS

HELP!!!,
my full story is as follows;
I live in Langley Park, which is just outside of Durham and i recieve(d) my signal from Burnhope.
Anyway EDF energy decided to put up some wind turbines near the aerial and this affected langley parks tv signal ie picture would constantly freeze, recordings would regularly be missed. I had a thomson top up tv freeview box through my aerial, but EDF energy nicely offered to install a freesat Triax SR 322 box for me. Obviously i was happy because i was gonna get freesat for free installed and the work was carried out yesterday 08/01/09. Anyway previously i could just hit tv guide and get a full 14 day guide and plan recordings etc. Now however when i check the guide on this new freesat im lucky to get 1-2hours worth of planned programmes, most just display 'no data'. This is very very annoying and i thought if it was something simple then i would do it myself rather than complain to EDF as it took them about 3-4months to get someone out to install the freeview.
Anyway any suggestions would be greatly appreciated no matter how small,
Many thanks for your help and time.

Your post is very confusing, first you say EDF installed Freesat then you say they installed Freeview.

Anyway the Triax SR 322 is a FTA satellite receiver not a licenced Freesat receiver with the Freesat EPG, so you will only get 'now and next' on some channels and maybe nothing on others.

Re: Triax SR 322 EPG PROBLEMS

I think the root of your problem is where you say it took EDF 3 or 4 months to install the Satellite system, presumably including dish. I'm assuming you previously had a Freeview PVR, which was adversely affected by the wind turbines, and EDF thought the best course was to replace this with a satellite dish-based system.

However, when this work was authorised - say last August or September - there was no Freesat PVR on the market. The only Freesat PVR currently in existence - the Humax Foxsat - only became available in November or December. So EDF gave you what to them at that time seemed the next best thing - a Free-to-Air satellite PVR, which will get you most or all of the Freesat channels but, as Fred Smith says, not the Freesat EPG.

It seems to me you have 3 options - (i) buy your own Humax Foxsat, except it will cost you £299, and it's in great demand and a a s-d to get hold of; (ii) go back to EDF, and tell them what they've given you isn't a fair replacement for what you had, and ask them to get the Humax (though they'll have the same problem finding it); (iii) put up with it.

Meanwhile, this is Sky's website with all FTA channel progs - TV Guide & TV Listings - Sky TV

Re: Triax SR 322 EPG PROBLEMS

fellas thanks for the reply;
to fred smith - sorry my mistake i meant the freesat not freeview.
to geofbob - thanks for confirming my suspitions - will this always be like this then - only the now and next guide do you know? as IMO theres no point having a recordable box if i cant just view what i want on screen and set recordings in advance without scrawling though online guides etc! I think my next step is to get back onto EDF and demand my tv as i used to have it-at the end of the day its me who pays my license not them!
thanks for the quick replys!

One further thought re the EPG - can you get software updates for your Triax PVR, through a Serial connection to a computer? If you look at the icons at the end of this website - http://www.triax.com/upload/triax_-_...%5B2008%5D.pdf - it shows you the icon concerned. If you can access updates, there may be one for the EPG. I've recently seen a Forum posting that referred to an update for this feature in respect of Fortec Star satellite receivers.

Otherwise - Good Luck with EDF - you'll need it!

Re: Triax SR 322 EPG PROBLEMS

I also live in Langley Park and had the same PVR Recorder installed yesterday 8.1.09. I have exactly the same problems. I have reconnected my freeview PVR as I was so frustrated with the new equipment. What is the point of having a recorder with no tv guide!!!!!

EDF will be recieving a few phone calls on Monday morning I'm sure.

Re: Triax SR 322 EPG PROBLEMS

to e1370, I rang EDF Monday 12.1.09 and they didn't get back to me. Am pleased you posted on this forum or I wouldn't know what was happening, did they say they would contact you when they have the new equipment?
