Keep finding freesat box switched on

Hi
I keep finding my freesat box (Humax) has switched itself on to channel 101. I know they update the box 'over the air' and assumed this was the reason why at first, but it happens at totally random times, sometimes 4 or 5 times a week. Does anyone else get this or is there maybe a fault?
Thanks

The box has an auto on and off option in the menus check that this option is disabled.

No, never heard of that one, have you tried a factory reset?

Re: Keep finding freesat box switched on

I have heard of similar issues where a single LNB is used, but no Loopback installed, the unit gets confused after checking for EPG Updates.

Re: Keep finding freesat box switched on

The feed is coming out of a quad LNB that's also feeding a BSkyB+ box. Don't know if that might have anything to do with it?

I'm gonna try the factory reset and see if that has any effect. If not I suppose it might be time to give Humax a shout. It must be something official-ish as it's always on channel 101 when it switches itself back on, no matter what channel it was on when put into standby.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep you posted

I think you may be right. I have one which gets swapped between two dishes, one with only a single line connected and there it does silly things. Not just come on by itself but 'climb' the channel numbers from 101 to 999 at one minute intervals.

It can't be the quad lnb as each one is electrically seperate. My foxsat has not done this. It does come on by itself in the night to update chapter thumbnails but it always turns itself off. It can't be epg updating as this is downloaded on demand when you press the guide button. Try an experiment, cover the ir port when you are not using it to rule out a rogue infra red source.

Some years ago I made some touch sensitive light dimmers. Trouble was they were so sensitive that if you were boiling water in the kitchen the lounge lights used to ramp slowly up and down. Sure some of my neighbours still believe we has a ghost

Re: Keep finding freesat box switched on

Hi - My Humax box switches itself on.

I was blaming the wife for not turning it off, but I have now confirmed it turns itself on. Seems to power on in the mornings...

Would be interested to kow if Factory reset resolves this...

Cheers
Russ

I think mine might be doing this too. Come back a few times now to find it on and was blaming it on the missus (due to the poor reception angle of the IR), but when I looked at it last time, tuner 1 seemed to have lost all signal. Going to standby and back solved it. So maybe its trying to do something, losing the signal, freaking out and stopping? Doesnt happen over night for me though, its when I get back from work in the afternoon
