Installer for free sat

I am waiting for Free Sat Hdr to come into stock before buying. As i want the recorder on it.

Is there anyone on here that is local to South Lincolnshire that can install it, with good quality cable and dish.

I do not want to give my good money to Comet and Currys.

Thanks

Michelle.

Re: Installer for free sat

An interesting way to get the Dish and installation is to buy the £75 offer for Sky non subscription at Tesco, PC World, Currys etc.
Then disconnect the Sky digi box and use the Freesat equipment.
Regards
David

Re: Installer for free sat

Then sell Sky box on this site.
It cost about £75 via Argos, so David suggestion sounds good to me.

Re: Installer for free sat

Surely the sky dish is only going to be a single LNB? If that is the case then it won't allow the humax HDR to work fully. You need a dual LNB to allow the twin tuner to work.

Re: Installer for free sat

I approached a reputable local installer and he had no problem undercutting the Argos installation price (and that was for a Quad rather than Dual LNB).
I'd favour this approach over using a national chain.

Hi,

I've got a Sky Freesat Installation booked for later this week.

If I asked the installer would they be able to put a quad LNB on for me during the installation so I could hook up a Freesat PVR?

Thanks in advance!

You are confusing your terminology! A "dual LNB" is one with two feed horns for picking up signals from two satellite positions (e.g. Hot Bird and Astra-1).

You probably mean a "twin-output LNB" except these are not manufactured for a Sky minidish.

So that leaves you with a "quad-output LNB".

Various places offer a 4-output LNB upgrade kit.

Re: Installer for free sat

Argos contractors here are bloody awful. They installed my dish on the plastic fascia which holds my gutters!!!!!

Had no idea they had been so stupid (it's on my roof and cant be seen from garden) until the first night of windy weather....... at which point my picture started pixelating. Puzzled, I went outside to look at dish.......only to find it merrily swinging away to and fro and threatening to take off at the first decent gust!! Not only that.....he had attached it with an ordinary analogue TV aerial pole which was far too weak to hold a sat dish......complete disaster!!

To add insult to injury it had cost me an extra £55 on top of standard installation for this pole!
