Fortec Star

Hi

First post so here goes

I've just purchased a Fortec Star / Passion kit from Maplin. It's come as a complete kit, with cable connectors etc.

I'm going to install it myself, and use my neighbours Sky dish (about a metre from mine) to get the alignment.

Before I crack on is there anything in the kit I should change or upgrade ?

Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of ?

Thanks

David

Did you get the Passion PLUS? or just Passion (which is the old model). They are almost the same except that PLUS model allows to to record with external USB harddisk.
When it is up and running, just check whether it has the latest firmware (check Fortec site). Other than that, there is nothing special to look for.

Re: Fortec Star

Thanks for the tips, I'm pleased to report it's installed and running.......

signal strength is around 65% and qulity is around 70 to 99% which I assume is correct.

Very impressed so far, there does however seem to be a large number of channels that are unavailable.

One last question, how do I find out what version of software is running on it.

Good to here that it is all running all ok,
If you go to the other settings section then system info and press ok it will come up also there is a new softwear just come out, also use the new loader to install it.

Download

Ps: use a usb stick to install the loader and softwear
