Humax freesat pvr - two rooms

Hi,

Wonder if anyone could help a newbie?

I have a Panasonic 32LZD81 receiving Freesat directly in one room and the Humax Foxsat PVR feeding Freesat into a Sony TV in another room, both working off a quad LNB.

If I record a programme on the Humax, how can I best wire up the system so that I can view the recorded programme on the Panasonic in the other room? Ideally, I'd like to be able to control the Humax from the other room so that I can use "pause live TV" when watching on the Panasonic, though I know that would mean the Humax would have to be tuned to the same channel.

I hated Sky but at least the TV eye gave control of the stb in another room.

Thanks.

You need to add an external modulator to the Foxsat (you can connect it to the three yellow, red and white composite/audio out phono connectors.

Heres one

UHF Modulator TV/CCTV/ Home Cinema/Camera /New design on eBay, also, CCTV Security Cameras, Security Equipment, Consumer Electronics (end time 09-Jan-09 17:43:24 GMT)

The foxsat output is sent as a uhf tv channel by coax to the remote set (same as the sky rf out)

If you have a vcr you can use this instead of the modulator. It has one built in

A blaster would also be needed to send the remote signal back to the Humax.

Re: Humax freesat pvr - two rooms

My solution ( which may not fit your requirements ) is
My main LCD TV has built in Freeview.
I also have a Humax FOXSAT HDR connected.
So on the LCD I can change between Freesat and Freeview.
I used a 20m three way screened cable to pipe humax outputs
3. AUDIO Connects to the TV or VCR using an RCA cable.
4. VIDEO Connects to the TV or VCR using an RCA cable.
to a wide screen TV in separate room.
Works a treat but obviously no remote ( unless you shout through to Wife to press buttons ).

Right, I have finally managed to get this working after some trial and error! I purchased an external RF modulator of ebay for about £10 and seems to work fine. I ran a coax cable to my second TV. I have then purchased an SLx OmniLink, hooked this all up and it worked prefectly!. The OmniLink was £21 from B&Q and comes with its own magic eye. So for about £30 I now how a fully working second TV with working remote. The only slight issue I had was I has a very poor signal strength on my TV upstairs so had to use a booster, which caused me a few problems but I finally got it working. Just thought I would pass on this info for anyone else wanting to do something similar

thanks , could you give me any more detail on using the Omni Link with the Humax. I have the same kit but the Omni link seems to destroy the signal quality although it does change channels ok.

i presume you are using a modulator (which one? which channel?) on the Humax output since it does not have UHF? do you then go into the omni link and from there to your TVs?

help appreciated

Keith

The channel you set the modulator to will vary according to which transmitter you are using. You need a channel as far away as possible to the 5 analogue and 6 digital uhf channels coming from your aerial
