Humax HDR Software Update Failure

Hi all...happy new year...

I am posting this on behalf of a friend who purchased his HDR the same day as me... on installing the box mine upgraded to the new firmware, no problems at all...

my mates box however comes up with an error code E-05 whetrying to update...

anyone have any ideas as to what this code means or how he can upgrade to the latest firmware? he is on 1.01 or something and mie is 1.02

His diagnostic sreen shows both tuners at 90% strength and 100% quality

thanks

Andy

Re: Humax HDR Software Update Failure

Mine's doing something similar - it fails to update, and reboots the box. I've mailed Humax, but nothing yet.

I'm using a single tuner.

Any ideas, anyone?

Ta.

Re: Humax HDR Software Update Failure

Had a browse around and came across this "fix"

1. Plug cable into LNB-1
2. Check for updates (automatic)
3. When the message comes up saying "Do you want to update to the new firmware", carefully take the cable out and plug it into LNB-2.
4. Now press ok on the dialog box, and your box should update successfully.

Let me know if it works.

Al

Just to add, there is a DC voltage going from the STB to the dish (13v IIRC) so when you take out and insert the F connecter make sure is sqr on so as you dont short anything.

The new firmware is available on the Hummy website for use over usb if you don't fancy the cable switch solution

Re: Humax HDR Software Update Failure

When I try and download the update from the Humax site, it prompts me for a username and pwd. Anyone else getting this?

Re: Humax HDR Software Update Failure

Use the "Software Download" tab to get the firmware and loader updates, The Download Tool tab just contains the instructions, ignore the user id and password

Re: Humax HDR Software Update Failure

Yeah, that's a known fault - I've mailed Humax but - as I said - nothing yet.

I must clearly reiterate the other poster's warning that there's a risk of a short from swapping the cables while powered on - and it will not be easy to guarantee no contact will be made.

Expect either a simple fuse repair or high repair costs, should someting go wrong!

System ID 3768.0000
Application Version HPRSFCI 1.00.02
Loader Version U7.52

Re: Humax HDR Software Update Failure

Mine is .01 and the current appears to be .02.

Looks like there's no need for you to update. Yours must be a slightly newer unit.

Question Re: Humax HDR Software Update Failure

Hi, I had the same problem with my Humax PDR. I set up using the existing software and then a couple of days later updated to 0.2 using the menu.

I was originally using one LNB feed but now have two feeds via a quad LNB bought via ebay. I have a problem when recording which require help with. When recording one channel I can then only watch a limited number of channels as the available listings reduce for some reason. Once recording has finished the full list can then be accessed.

Has anyone else had the same problem ?

I am wondering if it is an LNB problem. Is the switching of output 1 limiting the vertical/horizonal switching of output 2 ?

I have assummed that quad LNB's are four separate
/indepenant LNB devices - but are they?

Can anyone help ?

Hiya, from what I have read you will need to reset your unit for it to learn that it now has 2 feeds
