Humax Freesat PVR - can it also receive/rec non-Freesat channels?

Hi,

I'm planning to get the Humax Freesat PVR when it comes out. I'd also like to receive the free German transmissions (from one of the Astra satellites, not sure which one).

Do you know if the Humax Freesat PVR due out at the end of the year can:
- receive other, non-Freesat channels?
- record these channels?
- support any kind of programme guide for them?

If the answer to any of the above is yes, is there a special set up I would need? Extra LNB? Extra cable?

Thank you!
Tim
(no satellite equipment currently - I'll be starting from scratch)

No one knows the answer until it comes out,
The present Humax box can receive non-Freesat channels in non-freesat mode.
It should be able to record any channel it can receive.
Of course you can receive only the channels on the same satellite as freesat. Then you do not not need any extra LNB/cables.
However, if you intend to receive channels from satellite other than the same of freesat, you will need extra dish/lnb or motorised dish. In addition to that it is unlikely that a Freesat box will work as it certainly has no multi satellite capability.

Whilst Celsius is correct that you would need multiple dishes, or a motorised system, it should be noted that the Humax Foxsat HD and the upcoming Humax Foxsat HDR both have multi satellite capability and can use DiSeq to control switch or Dish motor.

The answer at this time is "we can't confirm". Not sure if that is a good or bad thing!
