Freesat help required (freesat Vs wife)

Hi all,
We have Sky + installed at the moment and we are looking at getting rid of it in a couple of months and replacing it with freesat. However I am keen to try out the technology and see the HD channels. Would it be possible to split the satellite feed cable and feed it into a freesat box? Will I lose the signal to the Sky + box? etc etc?? The reason for asking is that SWMBO says no more wires!

You could take one of the feeds off the Sky+ box and plug it into the freesat box, of course, whilst you've done this, the recording functionality of the Sky+ box will be inactive.

Thanks for that, but its not actually what I was looking for. My question was could I split one of the feeds? Thanks.

Nope.
At least not while both boxes were active, the tuner sends signals to the LNB for parameter switching so they would conflict with eachother.

At least one Freesat box has a LNB passthrough (common on EU generic boxes) which is as described passed through the LNB so when the primary is off the secondary box controls the LNB.

If you are a SKY subscriber why not consider SKY+HD, you don't have to take the HD sub if you buy it third party and you have access to the "free" HD channels (BBCHD, CH4HD, Luxe HD with touchwood ITVHD sooner rather than later) and the DVR functions are covered by the existing subscription.
