I connot yet confirm it works since my network connection to the Humax has gone

Thanks for the help all.
Thanks to the quick test option of using a USB stick I created the three files and put them on the root of a memory stick and the Humax could see one file and offered to play it but the nothing happens when I play the file
If go to the bottom of the Humax play dialogue and select the scene option they are all blank. The ts file is nearly as large as the mpg file. ts = 510kb mpg = 511kb source avi 717kb so I presume from that the ts contains something.

What setting do you people use in the Super c to convert from avi to mpg?

I was going to try a few different settings just now but Super c is moaning about Access violation error at startup that was supposed to have been fixed in ver 51 that I have
What version are you people using as there seem to be some old versions available at SUPER 2012 build 51 - Old Versions

Can you play the .TS and original.mpg file on your PC ?. Splash Lite is a good free player. Medianinfo is handy for finding out what a videofile contains. Also try remuxing the .mpg file to .ts using tsmuxergui before using AV2HDR. Can you post a sample of the original you want to convert on a file share site so I (and others) can have a play

Hi there,

Hope somebody might be able to help me. I have just discover AV2HDR and can get it working perfectly on my Windows 7 laptop. But I cannot get the FTP function on my Windows XP desktop machine.

I can import the video, but as soon as I hit the HDD button, i get the error message "Configuration System Failed to Initialize". It is set up exactly the same way as I have it on my Windows 7 laptop so I am stumped.

Any ideas anybody?

Cheers

There are a few things you can check - firstly check the permissions on the install folder - I see that AV2HDR creates a XML file in it with the ftp settings so the running user will need this permission.

Check also that you now have four files AV2HDR.chm AV2HDR.exe MediaInfo.dll and ftp_config.xml.

From memory it also requires the microsoft net framework.

Also check the ftp settings are OK.

Cheers for replying Repassac,

Definitely got 4 files, definitely got Net Framework, FTP setting are OK (as the are the same as on the laptop).

What do you mean by "check the permissions on the install folder"? I have unzipped the 4 files to an AV2HDR folder within Program Files and then run the exe file from a shortcut on the Quick Launch bar.

Appreciate the assistance.

Right click the folder and display properties - select security. I suspect they are OK as there were three files in the download - the 4th would be created when you run it - as you have it it implies that you do have appropraite permissions (which you don't by default in Windows 7).

My only other suggestion is to see if anything is in the event logs using the admin event viewer.

p.s. The current version of AV2HDR is 1.6

Hi Ross,

The error you quoted is generated by .NET framework, not AV2HDR. It means there is a problem with the machine.config file, which is a computer-specific configuration file for .NET Framework.
There is a known problem with the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 update that can cause corruption of the .Net configuration on some systems.
Make a backup of machine.config file and delete it from its location (C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CON FIG\machine.config). Then from "Control panel/Add or Remove Programs" (ensuring the 'Show Updates' box is checked) uninstall .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
Finally use Windows Update to re-install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
If all is well you can delete the backup.

regards
raydon

Thanks guys - I'll give a that a go and report back.

Sorry to be a pain, but I do have another issue - when I try the run the command line version I get an error message in dos and then the software crashes - do you think that may be .net framework related as well?

Cheers again - great work on all the software.

Have you tried following the link on the Windows Update failure - for most updates you can following it back to a download link where you can install it.

After you removed the previous install - you did reboot? - this is the most common cause of install failures.

p.s. see if any of this helps:

Hi Repassac,

I did a reboot after last uninstall but I'll try it again. I also have .Net 3.0 installed - do you think I should uninstall that as well?

I think I would try the cleanup tool mentioned in the link above. If you have problems sorting it - you should get FOC support from Microsoft for this issue (until 4/2014 if you have the lastest SP I think).

The tool also uninstalls NF3.

Sorted guys!!

Used cleanup tool and removed all .nets that i could (3.5, 3.0, 2.0 - rebooting after each one) then reinstalled and ran all upates. I then redownloaded av2hdr and it works!

Thanks for all your help.

My next issue is that I would like to do a batch convert and I see that there is a command line version but I can't seem to get it to work. I have used

av2hdr <filename.mpg> and it crashes when it goes to write the NTS file - I get an error message saying

Unhandled Exception : SystemArguentOutOfRaneException : Index was out of range...

Are you able to help me on this one and then I'll leave you alone!

Cheers
Ross

I'm having difficulty getting FTP to work properly with AV2HDR (v1.6). My OS is Win7 64bit and I'm running vsftpd on the HDR. When I click on the HDD button to select the HDR Destination Folder I get an error message after a 10sec delay (see attachment). I can use File, Select Output Folder to navigate to the Video folder on the HDR; AV2HDR will then process the imported file and save the 3 files to the HDR, but these are not visible via Media although I can see them with Windows Explorer and the Browse Media Files option in raydon's software.

Perhaps unmatched workgroup? DHCP IP not preset from mac address and changing - mostly I suspect incorrect ftp AV2AVR settings.

The hmt paths are incorrect when you transfer to HDR using a samba share instead of direct FTP, Read the post HERE for the solution.

Thanks to both repassac and raydon for your help. I now understand the process and am able to successfully transfer large files to and from the HDR.

AV2HDR v1.7 release

AV2HDR v1.7 is available for download. This is a very minor bugfix release. No additional functionality is provided. Details of the bugfix and a download link are in the thread header.

Think this is a local PC problem. Insufficient something -possibly RAM.

You don't state exactly which format your source video is in, but many users of AV2HDR have found that running their source video through TSMuxerGUI first cleans them up enough for AV2HDR to accept them.

Tsmuxergui is a very handy piece of software. You can join create a AVCHD folder from 1080i content and burn it to a standard DVD which will play in full-HD on pretty well all blu-ray players (including the PS3). About 30-40 mins of 1080i recorded from broadcast sources will fit on a single layer DVD blank.
