As far as I know there are no Spanish channels on the 28.2/28.5E satellites that Freesat uses.
Freesat receivers can be made to provide channels from other satellites but that is not their intended purpose.
Generic satellite receivers can receive channels from any satellite for which a suitable dish antenna is available.
The satellites that carry channels for Europe are listed here: Europe, Africa & Middle East - LyngSat.

To logi - this is a better site for finding FTA channels in particular languages - just click on country flag

You can pick up Spanish programmes very easily with a cheap FTA Rx and a dish pointed at 30W Hispasat.

Yes, I noticed a few on 19E, even one partly in Basque.

What size dish should i use to get Hissat ? Does skydish work ?

Hi All,

Excuse my ignorance but i am also interested in receiving Spanish channels. I already have a basic sky dish on my house as it was there when i moved in, is that sufficient ?
Also can anyone recommend a good receiver for FTA channels like these ? Maybe one which is PVR and one which is not.

Thanks for your time.

The dish can get many of the other satellites with Free Spanish TV on but it either has to be re-aimed at another satellite or an extra LNB added which for that 2nd option the sky dish is a little small to do that with.

A list of what free Spanish TV there is, is here..

Almost any cheap FTA satellite receiver will do ..

Hi piethief and welcome to AVF.
Hispasat will need quite a big realignment of the dish, and I don't know whether it would be large enough.
There are other satellites you could use though as pedro's link shows.
There are too many generic satellite receivers to be able to recommend specific models.
HTH but feel free to ask if you want more details.

From the channel guide in What Satellite magazine, Hispasat seems to host most of the free to air Spanish stuff that I get from my multi-lnb system.

I guess that the main thing for the OP will be to check whether the dish will get a clear sight of Hispasat at 30w - with a difference of almost 60 degrees, the angle for Hispasat is going to be a fair bit away from the current sky alignment of the dish.

Hispasat being at 30w has about the same elevation on the arc as Sky at 28.2/5e, if a sky dish has been installed properly (level) and it can be swung 60 degees west, it should catch it on the other side of the arc.. especially if you are about 1w longitude... the skew would be out though..

well yes I agree .. if .... there's a tree or er... brick wall/ house (which has a high likelyhood) in the way of 30w .. but if it were on a south facing wall & could swing round ... it would cut the arc on the other side where 30w is ... and only need the skew altering. In any event, if you had a sky dish that had been installed on sky @ 28e - you'd leave the elevation as it is to save time if the dish has to be moved you can find 30w faster & just tweak it.

This for example in the main satellite section ..

has a good chance of doing just that..
