Record from an old Sky Box to a DVD Recorder

Help please. I have a Panasonic Freesat HD TV connected to a dish that has 2 feeds. I also have a Panasonic DVD Recorder connected by HDMI to the TV, plus I have an old Sky box with a new card connected to the dish so I can watch the basic Sky channels.
My question is, can I connect my DVD recorder so I can record from the Sky Box and still watch Freesat or a different channel at the same time.
At the moment I record from Freeview but at times the signal breaks up on certain channels, mainly ITV and 5
and my Wife gets fed up if she is missing some of her programs that have been recorded.
I would appreciate any advice please.

You can connect the DVD recorder to your old Sky box and record from that and watch freesat through the built-in freesat tuner in your TV.

Thanks for the quick reply.
So I should disconnect the recorder from the TV, connect by scart lead to the Sky Box and connect the Sky Box to the TV by scart lead?
Is that all I need do or am I missing something?

You should keep the recorder connected to the TV by scart so that you can set it to record and connect it to the sky box by scart. You shouldn't need a scart from the sky box to the TV as it should display when you set the recorder to record from that input

Thanks. I will try this tomorrow when I have the time to get down on my knees and change the connections around. Are you saying that I should change the HDMI lead connection from the TV to recorder and use a scart lead instead?

Apologies, I misread and didn't realize your recorder used HDMI. Yes you can still use HDMI

That's OK, and if the Sky receiver has two Scart outputs you could use one for the TV and one for the recorder.
