Which FreeSAT PVR?

Finally ditching Sky HD in 3 rooms and forking out for 3 seperate HD PVR boxes (which should pay for itself in a year - if I sell boxes in Ebay as well)

Any suggestions which is the best box on market? Seem that my only real option is the Humax FOXSAT-HDR.

If so, I'm down to £250 per box from amazon any ideas where I might find them cheaper? (EDIT: NEW)

thank you

The Humax is the most commonly used however Sagem and Goodmans also do Freesat PVR's. £240 is about the cheapest you will get a Humax freesat HDR for.

Technomates and others, with external HDDs, do the job cheaper, and better imho.

And series and accurate recording, oh and alternate recording suggestions for programme clashes. And identification of HD alternate recording opportunities even if the HD recording is at a different time and date. EPG search facilities for alternate recording of the same programme, genre searches, I could go on.

Basically most fta boxes are back to to the same recording principles pre PDC on vcr's.

Which Technomate box can offer 2 channel HD recording plus a 3rd channel viewing (including a 3rd HD channel if and when they all move to a shared transponder) and a 320gb hdd for £240.00 ?

I agree for the enthusiat fta boxes are more versatile with multiple satellittes but most will be happy with the offerings from 28.2/28.5E

For anyone who is on need of those recording facilities based on an EPG then my Techno is a non-starter.
For me, as I couldn't care less about such things, it is better, again imho.
The recordings I make, many set manually, but others by using the EPG according to which channel is involved, and some with use of the series facility, are easy to set up, and are always perfect, in both timing and quality.
Again, I am not sufficiently emamoured of TV as to ever need to make more than one recording at a time!
With a 500gB external - as I said - HDD today's price would be way under £200.
ITV HD is there of course, just like any other channel, and if I ever forget a programme and am so desperate to see it that I have to use iPlayer then I come to the computer

Indeed the Techno is cheaper however when moving from Sky+HD it is easier to use a box with an EPG

Thanks for all the input - I'm getting the sense that Humax is the best for me as I'm coming from Sky. I do want EPG and I guess you get what you pay for

I have Sky HD, and do use the EPG occasionally, but don't find its limited equivalent on the Techno any problem.

It seems to be well liked but some say the fan is very noisy and there is no USB archiving capability. 500GB sounds a lot but belive me you will quickly fill it if you record much HD material. With the hdr you can use an external usb drive to add extra storage.
