Sorry for the dumb questions, but I have just bought an Foxsat HDR and the LCD backlight behaviour is befuddling me ...
Despite numerous searches, I cannot find observations of the the "normal" LCD backlight behaviour ...

So, is is how it normally operates ?

With power saving ON in the options:

1. LCD Backlight is on all the time when the unit is powered up
2. When in standby, with no timers set, the LCD backlight is off
3. When in standby, with timers set, the LCD backlight is on

With Power saving off, the backlight is on permanently, regardless of standby or operating state ?

Also, I assume that I haven't missed any config. options to be able to dim it ?

If you've had the patience and nouse to work that out, there's nothing dumb about you

No, there are no config. settings to dim the backlight but I believe some users have stuck tape over it leaving a small gap in the middle.

To clarify...

3. When in standby, with recording in progress, or within 15 minutes of recording start, the LCD backlight is on.

Many thanks for the responses. Trouble with backlight LCDs they are very "in your face", especially in a dark cabinet. It just looked very odd, coming from a Humax 9200 which is a bit more subtle display wise
