What's the future of Freesat?

Having installed freesat a couple of weeks ago, I guess one can't complain in terms of Value for money but the quantity and content of HD programs is a bit dissapointing. Does anybody know what the plans for the future are? Will there be any more channels and/or HD content?

Unfortunately the BBC and ITV decided not to add a card slot onto the Freesat system. So now we see that all the HD channels are pretty much stuck on Astra 2D. Which has very little room left available.

The Freesat system from the start should have been encrypted with a free viewing card. This would have gave access to all the other Satellites, Astra 2A, 2B, Eurobird.

Thanks guys. A it snookered then.

How do you get the other satellites? Do you need a motorised dish? Is there anything on them worth watching?

If the other sateliite is not far away you can use a monoblock lnb or a offset bracket but you will need something bigger than a sky minidish. You can also use a second dish. In all cases you need a stb that supports diseqc/usals to allow the stb to move the dish or switch to the right lnb for the channel you want. If you mean the post above Astra2 and Eurobird 1 28.2/28.5E are so close as to be one satellite and any box including a freesat box can view any free to air transmission from there.

Freesat already has access to all the Astra 2 grp and Eurobird 1, without access to Eurobird 1 a freesat box will make a good door stop (the epg and ITV HD are from Eurobird1 as are many of the channels)
