Multi-Sat v Standard STB

Hello People,

I want to treat the family and myself for Xmas and am thinking of getting an HD Set Top Box. I have an old Panny Sky Box and a fixed mini-dish. I want HD but don't want to fill Murdoch's boots !!

So my dilemna is this - is it a complete waste of time/money to go for something like a Fortec Passion over a Humax Foxsat when all I really need is HD Freesat ?

Any opinions/advice gratefully received !

I don't quite see what the dilemma is - if as you say all you really want is Freesat HD, then you don't need a Fortec Passion or any other generic HD FTA box, which in any case won't necessarily give you the Freesat EPG. Nor in fact are you limited to the Humax Foxsat receiver, though some would argue that it's the best - see this for a range of receivers.
