Unhappy Humax Foxsat-HDR recording failed

Hi,

I've just returned from a fortnight holiday and discovered that a number of my series recordings did not take place. They appear to have worked for the first week, but there is no sign of them for the second week!

The Foxsat-HDR box had identified some changes to channels and so wanted to go through a channel update cycle, as part of the usual automatic scan. Over the past few months, this has happened a number of times as new channels are added, or channels move. Was this the cause? If so, how can I stop it happening in future?

I'm also aware that there has been a recent firmware upgrade which happened on 25 October (according to the diagnostic page), but recordings continue until early November and then there is no sign of the expected episodes.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem, or better still, can help?

Did you have a small power cut while you was away?

Re: Humax Foxsat-HDR recording failed

It's certainly possible - we turned most things off before we went away, so I don't have any way of knowing whether there was a power cut or not ...

I take it from the question that this can be a cause?

Thanks for your explanation. Guess I'll have to live with this feature ...

I have noticed something similar to this recently. When I have a series link recording set up I have noticed that after a recording the next episode is not automatically scheduled unless I go into the epg and let it update. Then when I go back to the schedule it has programmed next week's episode.

Seems weird but I guess the recording does not update unless it has the new epg data for the next week - but this only happens when you look at the full epg.

This should not happen regularly unless your box is continually back-to-back recording (can't fully refresh the EPG), and even then the EPG updates slowly in the backround. So, unless you have the above, and you are looking at Schedule soon after the recording finishes just to make sure, you have a problem somewhere - unless you are describing a on-off/isolated incident.

Rgds.

Les.

If power is lost with the hdr in sby it stops the clock so no further recording is possible until the hdr is manually booted up. You can tell it's happened because you have to boot the box twice, the first one goes back to normal sby with the clock running and the second boots the box to normal operation

I noticed mine failed to record the fourth episode of The Thick Of It on tues night. I've just checked BBCHD schedule for that night and the programme was moved to some ungodly hour. But the machine was on, and recorded Frasier on Channel 4 no problem the next morning. Very odd.

I don't recall going through this "double boot" when I returned from holiday - just when I turned the box on, it wanted to update the channel list.

I'm more inclined to believe that the EPG did not move onto the following week, but it was only recording the odd program so should have done.

Many thanks for your comments so far.
