Grundig gufsat01hd

I live for part of my time in Portugal, and have just installed a Grundig Box. When I set this up I had to enter my U.K. post code which gives me ITV London and BBC London.
My location is just on the footprint of satellite reception, and I need to be able to access BBC London and also ITV YORKS to maintain stable viewing after 9:00 p.m.
My old Grundig Sky Box had the facility to ADD channels so that I could programme in the frequencies for Yorks ( 10891 H 22000 Fec 5/6 ).

Anyone any ideas on how I can do this with my new Gufsat01Hd box.

NO this is not a wind up - signal strength is coming in at 80% and quality at 70% - with the FULL range of Free to Air channels.

Try using these instructions: GRUNDIG GUFSAT - ADD NON FREESAT TV CHANNELS AND SERVICES. - Plasma Televisions - Zimbio

Re: Grundig gufsat01hd

Hi there thank's for your reply - problem with this is it searches and installs NON FTA channels such as Sky news etc, BUT if the service is FTA - like ITV Yorks , then it ignores this completely. If I try to add the channel manually I can get as far as Frequency, Aspect either H or V, BUT the FEC will not change from 2/3 to 5/6, so I receive some spurious channel.
My supplier suggests I change my Post code to Yorks, this will give me ITV Yorks, and then search thr'o the BBC entries which are numerous and I should be able to find BBC London.
Any thoughts on this - at the moment am trying to find a Yorks Post code to check this out .

Re: Grundig gufsat01hd

Am not aware of any problems - this box is used extensivley in Portugal - excellent picture quality, good reception etc, and CHEAP. Average cost for the Gufsat HD is 150 Euros. The Humax is 200 Euros.

Mind you - my supplier said that in his his latest consignment - 60 % were faulty. But it seems those that work and pass the pre- installation test are very reliable. His warranty calls are negligable.

Re: Grundig gufsat01hd

The procedure for adding channels is a bit fiddly on the GUFSAT01HD. You need to get the frequency and polarisation of the channels you need from the Lyngsat or King of Sat sites, then enter those details in the 'Add other channels' box. You can find that by pressing Menu>Settings. When you've entered those details, go down to the Scanning/Stopped box and press the right arrow. The box will then scan and should tell you which channels it has added. Also make sure the you activate 'Show other channels'.
The newly added channels appear on the channels list below BBC1(101), which means you need to start on 101 and then use the CH- button to find the channel you want.

Re: Grundig gufsat01hd

O.K. Guys - problem solved. First of all you cannot add channels that are FTA, when the box scans it finds nothing. When you add frequency and polarisation it does not pick up the correct FEC.

So what I have done is enter a Yorkshire post code, this immediatly brings up ALL the Yorkshire channels, and included in the menu are BBC London and ITV London. So we now have all that we require.

Thanks to all of you for your input.

You have to enter the SR as well as the frequency and polarisation. I added several FTA TV and radio channels today. As soon as you hit the right combination, the bars at the bottom of the screen light up.

Hi Brian - not going to dwell on this because I have solved my particular problem, but when I tried to add channels I entered for ITV Yorks
10891 H 22000 - this then presented me with FEC 2/3 which should be 5/6, there was no way that I could change this - my bars at the bottom did light up - green - showing signal strength and quality. When I scanned - it came up with - nothing found. Maybe I have a download problem - don't know , but all progs are coming in and working fine.

Yes, it looks as though your box has problems. I suppose all that matters for now is that you can get the channels you need by whatever means.

Hi Guys seems that my success was short lived and premature.
I now seem to have a problem downloading updates. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not this update is set to Automatic or Manual, the error message keeps coming up " Software update failed " O.K. to continue- then I go into a screen with a large wide bar that says updates being dowloaded. Nothing seems to happen. How long does this usually take .
I unplug the Box, count to ten, reboot. It works as normal with programmes listed and working.

Tomorrow is another day, at the moment all is normal, until I turn off go to standby and restart, then the whole procedure starts again. My question - should I take the box back, or is this normal, if so how long for the update process. Or is there a way of stopping this interruption.
