CBS coming to freesat today?

Remastered Star Trek as CBS comes to Freesat : Tech Digest

According to the above website, it is today that CBS channels come.

I thought there would be more talk of this.

I am looking forward to the remastered star trek, and the missus is looking forward to dynasty. Sad, but true.

They will already be on a sky box, they are replacing the Zone channels.

It looks like the programming under CBS is going to be superior,mate.
I hope they keep the Zone horror channel as it is...pleazzzzzzz lol

Apparently Zone Horror is staying as it is for now but with some decent new shows added.

Just watching CBS Action now.

All is well, and the remastered star trek looks very good.

Unfortunately this channel has the biggest most distracting DOG I have ever seen.

DOGS don't really bother me as I try to get engrossed in the action.
Depending on their transparency they can annnoy you.If you want
to archive recordings, some may feel its inconvenient.

You just reminded me that I didn't include DOGS in my first post
- but we will have to see If STV/ITV come up with a solution,
before anyone asks if there should be one, etc.

I won't keep going on about STV in your thread mate.

Glad you like the remastered Star Trek. I don't know if
you will remember the Lost In Space series, way back
I was a fan of it. lol

Oh I loved lost in space! Channel 4 used to show it at 12pm every sunday after the waltons. Great programme.

I don't normally moan about DOGs, but this one is huge, bright and, to top it off, they have put a seperate DOG in the other corner saying "premiere" all the way through the show.

The digital spy crew are apparantly unimpressed because they have zoomed the 4:3 picture and cut off the top and bottom to make it 16:9.

I'm not actually seeing CBS on my EPG. Do I need to do a freesat channel search and if I do will it affect my schedles?

You can either do a manual freesat scan now or wait for the auto one next time you boot. If you have the latest firmware (v11) on a hdr it won't affect your schedules. Not sure about non humax boxes.

Channels 135 name chnged to CBS drama, 136 CBS Reality and 137 CBS action. New screen on Ch 869 Read me info for parental control info for iplayer

I am really enjoying the channels so far. Star Trek remastered pilot episode today was great and the missus is well happy with Dynasty from the beginning.

The DOG is terrible though. Never seen one this bad and to add insult to injury they add a second DOG saying “New” or “Premiere” on certain programs. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the word “new” in the corner of the screen on an episode of dynasty made in 1981!

They definitely should have launched an HD channel. I don’t know what content they have but we need someone like that to take a risk with FTA HD.

Quality program Star Trek , set series to record this morning. ( Beam me up and all that)
The best part is the wifes Hates it, plus MY Humax is currently full of soap crud. So I will be testing out the new delete functionality.

I took a quick look at these. Seems like they're broadcasting in 4:3 - why do so many channels still do that: it's 2009 for God's sake

I know they were largely transmitting older 4:3 material but the giveaway sign for me was when they went to ad break and showed letterboxed material rather than proper 16:9.

The channel that was showing the vintage Star Trek seemed to be showing it in 4:3 but as part of an anamorphic 16:9 image with pillarboxing but they weren't transmitting the necessary wide signal so it was all just squashed up as 4:3! Not a good start IMO

I find a little bit of bartering with the wife works wonders. I watched dynasty with her last night and woke up this morning to find she had actually sky plussed star trek for me.
