possible iplayer offline streaming functionality on freesat?

Hi all,

I know we will find out when it launches in the near future, but I was wondering how the iplayer functionality will be implemented. Not how it will be selected from the user interface as such, more whether or not it will be online streaming only or whether there will be the functionality as you get on a computer to download and view the programme i.e. offline viewing. This would be possible I'm guessing on the Foxsat HDR as it has local storage but also whether it would be possible to download the programme on a computer and then stream the programme to a Foxsat HD or similar at a later date (within whatever DRM limits are imposed).

Just curious. Any thoughts?

Comment from people in the know on other forums indicates that the Freesat/iPlayer spec is only for a streaming application, no download to HDD, even though, as you say PVRs have the storage facility.

Also, for your PC solution, you would have to get it to emulate an MHEG streaming application which, in theory, could talk to the Foxsat HD/HDR.

Rgds.

Les.
