Communal Query: Sky Mini Dish with one user currently - add 3+ Sky/Freesat tenants?

Okay - it's the world's longest subject but hopefully it's fairly specific.

I'm a landlord who's tenant is requesting Freesat (sigh - he could've checked before he signed the lease of course, but I want to help).

The flat he has has no satellite connection currently.

The flat above does - but it's a Sky Minidish with unknown outputs to that Flat (or whether indeed it's live). I have the authority to take a feed(s) off it if it would be useful.

Question is: Could that Minidish feed a variety of Sky and Freesat tenants (there are 5 flats in total - some of which will want a connection)? If not, what do I need to do to make it happen.

There may be scope to install a secondary dish but I'd rather not as we're Grade II listed and the first dish shouldn't really have gone up but the council are "ok" with it as it's on the rear.

Any advice welcome.

Re: Communal Query: Sky Mini Dish with one user currently - add 3+ Sky/Freesat tenant

With an octo (8 output LNB) fitted to a Sky dish it can serve
4 x Sky+/HD boxes which each require 2 inputs
or
8 x standard Sky boxes which only need one input

or any combination of the above (to a maximum of 8)

If more than 8 feeds are required the solution would be either 2 dishes with suitable LNBs for the required outputs
or a larger dish used with a quatro (NOT quad) LNB and a multswitch
e.g. Multiswitch. Multiswitches to be used with a quatro LNB. Satellite Superstore UK. Big Discounts.

Just a word of caution, communal supplies from a single dish have to have earth bonding to avoid possible transfers of up to 415V between flats on different phases so ask the advice of a professional installer. The screen connections effectively connect each flat together

Thanks for the replies.

Sky boxes are mentioned but I would be potentially mixing Sky with FreeSat and wasn't sure if that was possible for the amount of outputs I might need. Could anyone confirm the options there? Good advice re earth bonding too thanks.

It doesn't matter as far as the dish(es)/LNBs are concerned whether it's Sky or Freesat as they're both from the same satellites.
So, you could for example have 2 x Sky+ boxes and 4 x standard Freesat with an octo LNB

Why? If you read it you would know it applied equally to Freesat and therefore does not have a logical homein any one place.

"No Sky or Freesat Related Threads In Here" - Lynx

Copied into Freesat also.
