Ethernet enabled functions.

Just a quick question.
Once the HDR box is enabled to use the ethernet connection, obviously the iplayer function will be available, but has anyone heard of any other services that this will allow (if any) i.e. could we eventually be able to access the internet, or youtube?

Just wondering.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could plug the Humax into your router and watch recordings on the PC over the network? Just a wish that someone might see and act on!

Bob_cat who works for Humax and posts on DS has virtually ruled this out for the hdr

I was only drifting off in to Dream World...... zzzzzzz

Has anyone got any tips to do this, i.e. connecting the Disc ect? (I know I should have done a search before asking!)

Get a PS3 you can do all that and more.

But can Bob_cat enable the USB socket to support the playing of HiDef content directly and get the film companies to create a new reaqd-only HD format for USB sticks?

I was watching YouTube on my TV this morning, checking up on all the new music albums highlighted in the newspaper. I have a Panasonic DMR 850 Freesat PVR which has Viera Link. Through a 50 quid mains network it gives me Youtube and access to all my web photo albums on Picasa. I also use it as a juke box to play my CD's from the HDD through the amp with no leaping up and down to load/unload them. I have playlists set up too. I am looking forward to iPlayer appearing on the Viera Link, and hoping that like in the US Love Film or blockbuster will make their service available via Viera Link too.
The Panasonic costs a bit more than a Humax but is much more useful and replaces all those other boxes.

It can certainly do BBC HD, the BBC HD iPlayer will come very soon.
(The HD vids on YT aren't really in HD though, after YT have got their mitts on them.)

.. but they don't look bad via VieraCast on the Panny DMR 850..
