Exclamation Has Humax Foxsat HD V1.00.23 upgrade broken your box?

Heads up.

After the recent OTA update to software V1.00.23 my Freesat receiver has lost a lot of channels, BBC1, ITV1, BBC HD, and many others including some of the Zone xxxxxx channels.

Some of the channels return slowly if I leave the box powered on, some don't.

If I put it in "Standby", when I switch back on the channels are missing again.

Rescan, reset to factory default and manual upgrade with a USB drive don't fix the problem.

I have emailed and spoken to Humax on the phone, the operator was "unaware" of any problems with this upgrade but promised a call back within half an hour. This has NOT materialised

If your box has started to behave oddly, don't worry, you're not alone

Post here to help Humax get their fingers out and sort it out quickly please

EDIT: The temporary solution is to download and install software V1.00.15 linked in post No 44

I thought it was worth a separate thread with a more relevant title, maybe some more complaints will inspire Humax to do something quickly

re: Has Humax Foxsat HD V1.00.23 upgrade broken your box?

yea mines 'boke' since the 023 update.

the channels im most annoyed at losing are bbc hd and itv (hd) but have lost everything else thats been reported

tried all sorts or retunes, factory resets and nothing.

this affects freesat and non freesat mode. when doing a manual scan most V transponders are reportin 0% signal strength and quality but the H's are at 90-100%

Yup, mine's borked. Lost BBC1, BBC-HD, and plenty of others, and have also picked up the green screen problem too. Mighty fail.

Did another Factory Reset this morning after BBC1 etc. disappeared overnight, box is set to auto standby BTW.

Here's the result for anyone at Humax who thinks that there's no problem, all the V polarised channels appear to be missing.

Interesting see this post where a fellow HD user can get the low band verticals but not the high band ones

Hi Graham, nice bit of diagnostics there

The problem is: when the box is first booted a lot of channels are missing, but, as I scan through and note them down, some of them come back or are pixellated. Some of them show no signal/quality and some of them show full signal/80% quality but no picture, just "Bad or no Signal".

My STB has been on for about 2 1/2 hours now and most of the channels have reappeared, except for S4C digidol, Zone Reality, Zone Thriller, S4C2, Euronews, CNN, weddingTVasia, B4U, Zing, Teachers TV, Pitch TV, Pitch World, GemsTV1, TVShop, All 3 JML, Create n Craft.

They DO seem to be mostly V polarised if that's significant, I haven't bothered to do a menu>diagnostics check on all of them.

What's most interesting to me is that, at initial power up, a lot more channels are missing as I've said, including BBC1, ITV1, BBCHD.

After a few minutes sitting looking at No or Bad Signal on BBC1, pixels start to appear bit by bit, until the whole screen is full of them, after about 15 minutes they start to become a coherent picture until after about half an hour the picture clears.
It's fine then until the next standby when the channels go missing again

re: Has Humax Foxsat HD V1.00.23 upgrade broken your box?

Here is a definitive list of my affected channels after the 1.00.23 upgrade

This scenario remains the same after endless reboots, rescans, factory resets.

these channels:-
120,136,137,202,204,207,401,504,509,650,803,804,80 5,806,808,809,810,813

show “No or bad signal” permanently - EDIT: also the High Band V Radio channels

These:-

101,103,108,113,115,116,117,121,122,123,124,135,14 0,203

all missing at boot up but return by themselves after about 1/2 to 1 hour.

I just did :-

Upgrade loader, upgrade firmware (from USB), factory reset, power up, standby, power up.

The same permanently missing channels are still missing so no different, except that this time all the second set of channels appear to be there without having to wait half an hour

Thanks Graham,

I thought the list looked the same, I've just been going through the Astra/Eurobird lists to look at the channels in my "reappear" list, any comments about the STB voltage/tone combination for those?

re: Has Humax Foxsat HD V1.00.23 upgrade broken your box?

On the other forum a while ago I asked the knowledgable folks about an apparent deafness of my Foxsat at the top end of the band.

100% signal but no Quality - Page 2 - Technical - Digital Spy Forums

I never fixed it. I always planned to swap the LNB to see if it was a oddity with the particular LNB I was using, but never got round to it.

Now, with the firmware update, the behaviour has changed from a high signal / low quality on the problem channels to "no or bad signal".

My list of knackered channels now exactly matches the one above.

Very strange - maybe the firmware change has increased the quality threshold at which the "no or bad signal" banner is put up ?

re: Has Humax Foxsat HD V1.00.23 upgrade broken your box?

Hmmm, if I can persuade the STB to lose the Low Band V channels again I'll check the less obvious ones as well as Beeb1 etc to see if they're all missing.

If so, I wonder if the people who are experiencing this problem (including me ) have got an LNB skew problem, that might explain why some boxes are O.K.- Marginal reception of Vertically polarised channels = poor LNB alignment?
